About Us...

I began my photographic career at the age of 17, when my high school art teacher asked me to photograph a friends wedding, and from that moment on I knew I wanted to photograph people. I went on to study Commercial Photography in my home town of Christchurch, New Zealand, and graduated top of my class. Still preferring people over objects, I began assisting in fashion photography and shooting weddings and portraits. I worked in photographic labs to learn the other side of photography-printing, processing and image manipulation, and let's be honest-free film processing! This job would eventually take me to London to work in one of the biggest Pro-Labs in the world, where I met the love of my life, Grant.

Grant has always been interested in art- all through his childhood he drew, painted, and photographed, and his career in photographics began as a retouch artist the old fashioned way- when you used a scalpel and paintbrush with dyes! He worked in the Pro Lab industry for many years, managing labs in Brisbane, London and Sydney. Settling in Sydney in 1998, Grant and I both went back into the Pro Lab industry and also began shooting weddings together. We married in 2002 on a beautiful summer's day on Sydney Harbour-and it was then that I really began to appreciate how important it was to capture all the DETAILS that go into a wedding! And how it's not just about the bride and groom- a wedding is an event of a lifetime for the whole family to cherish forever!

In 2005 we moved to the Central Coast with our new baby and set up Delisser Photography as a full time business for us both, specialising in wedding photography and fine art portraiture. Grant got back into retouching and has been working as a freelance artist doing work for world renowned advertising agencies, as well as photographing for Delisser Photography. His retouching skills have adorned magazines and billboards all over the world!

I'm always trying to challenge myself- I never want to get into a routine and take the same shots over and over at each wedding. Every wedding is as unique as the couple involved, and the photographs should reflect that. Shooting with Grant is great as we compete against each other to see who gets the best shot of the day-it keeps us looking for fresh perspectives, even if we have shot that location a dozen times! We feel so lucky to both be doing what we love with the one we love-creating art!

I joined the AIPP(Australian Institute of Professional Photography) in 2010 with a view to becoming a Master of Photography. In 2012 I achieved the first step there by gaining my Associateship!

I hope you enjoy looking at my images, I'd love to create some for you!
